Grand Pedal Lyre Reconditioning ~ $475. +materials
Grand pianos pedal systems vary in what components are involved. Generally for a simple lyre, material cost are low. I bring the lyre to my workshop for repair/service/restoration. Price includes pick-up and re-installation.
*Sometimes the trap work (lever system that is connected to the lyre) can also be in need of repair or new cloth. Cost trap work service is determined on an individual basis.
So THAT's where my pencil went! Oooooh! A penny.
Part replacement in early stages of the project:
The photo above shows indented heel cloth on a grand action. As the cloth gets harder it translates into extra noise. For some pianos, I use a treatment that aids in restoring the felt to its original shape.
Other Services Include:
*Pianos that have old spills or compacted grit on the soundboard & bridges will still look better, but can not be thoroughly cleaned until the piano is ready to be re-strung or re-built. In the photo, some of those dark spots are due to caked on dirt (perhaps from a spill). In the photo, the dark spot near the decal is discoloration of the varnish. Both need to be scraped clean when the soundboard is refinished.
Climate Control Systems & Installation
I am a certified installer of piano life saver systems. Together we will decide which system is right for your situation. Please email me for current prices.
Tuning Service —$105.
For pianos that are tuned regularly and have good structural integrity and are in a reasonably stable climate. I have been tuning pianos professionally for over 14 years. Aural tuning is preferable because your piano will be tuned both technically precise and musically. I tune for several music professionals in my service area and they can attest to my tuning prowess. I use an electronic tuning fork to pitch your piano properly. I tune to equal temperament, and I will custom build the tuning to match your piano’s potential. In most circumstances I will tune to frequency A=440.
Pitch Correction Service (in addition to fine tuning)—$20 to $75.
A piano that has not been tuned in a while, or that has been exposed to extreme climate change may be significantly flat or sharp in one or more area of the piano. This service is necessary to attain proper string tension and stability. The price is contingent upon how far off your piano is from concert pitch and how much time it takes. For instance, if the center section of the piano needs to be tuned twice but the rest of the piano is pretty close, the additional fee will be $20 (it only takes up to a quarter of an hour extra). If sections of the piano are between 20-30 cents off, the additional fee will likely be $40 (half hour extra). If the piano is more than 50 cents flat, the additional fee will usually be $75.
Voicing—price in contingent upon individual circumstance and desired outcome.
Voicing is a process that improves the tone quality of your piano. With a well regulated piano, voicing involves working with the piano's hammer heads to improve the sustain and color of a piano's tone. The time involved and price will depend on what changes are desired. Voicing is a complex process and is assessed differently for each instrument that I approach.
Key cleaning is included with a maintenance package. Light duty is for piano keys that can be wiped down without removing the key cover. Heavy duty cleaning will get dirt that is not easily reached without removing the cabinetry. I use “Keybrite” by the cory care company. If you would like to purchase a bottle of “keybrite” and clean the keys yourself, I can have this product available if you tell me ahead of time.
Vertical (Upright) Action Maintenance —$250 +add ons available
