Rose's Resume`

In December 2001, I was awarded the degree, Bachelor of Music (Cum Laude), from The Crane School of Music at the State University of New York college at Potsdam.

After apprenticing with the Crane School's piano technician, I continued my training by completing the Certificate in
Piano Technology Program in April 2003 at The University of Western Ontario.

I then had the honor of working with the senior piano technicians at the
Tanglewood Summer Music Festival in 2003. Along with the other technicians, I was responsible for the maintenance of 80 brand new Steinway and Boston pianos. There I tuned for chamber music concerts, rehearsals, visiting artists, and the Tanglewood Fellows (resident students). Working in this incredibly challenging environment helped to strengthen and refine my tuning/technical skills and knowledge of Piano Technology.

Shortly after my move to Vermont, I joined the
Piano Technicians Guild (PTG). The Vermont PTG chapter has monthly chapter meetings which include a technical session that explores a piano topic in depth. These meetings are an invaluable way to improve on skills and keep up to date with the latest techniques and technology. Not to mention, a great way to make connections with others in the field. I am currently the Vermont chapter's president.

In February of 2004, I was invited to do work/study with the piano guru at another prestigious facility,
The Banff Centre for the Arts, in Banff, Alberta. With similar responsibilties to those at Tanglewood, I worked in a relaxed setting and chose areas where I wanted to improve.

Currently, I work on pianos in private homes, schools, churches, and music/performance venues. I also occupy my time with action restoration projects for my customers. And if that isn't enough, I also work closely with local piano technician Allan Day. Allan has an excellent reputation and history of service. I assist him with complete grand piano rebuilding projects, and often fill in for him at major performance venues like the
Flynn Center and Saint Michaels College
